1. Ateneo Video Open FAQ

Q: Where exactly is the MVP building in Ateneo? Can you give us a guide so as not to get lost in the campus?

A: Here is a map of the Ateneo Loyola Schools. Building #117 on the map is your destination. The Loyola Film Circle is in room 308, on the third floor of the Manuel V. Pangilinan Center of Student Leadership (aka MVP). If you are taking a cab/being chauffeured to Ateneo, ask the driver to drop you off at Leong Hall (#114; first building/drop-off point you’ll see upon entering Gate 3) or Xavier Hall (#041) and walk towards the red brick road and spot the MVP building.

In the unfortunate event you do get lost, don’t be afraid to approach and ask directions from students or from these friendly guys*.

Q: Can professionals help us with our films?

A: Professionals may help in making your films as long as their contributions will not extend to directing your films. If you’re making an entry for the short narrative category, both the scriptwriter and the director must be undergraduates during the time of production. Failure to comply is a direct violation of rules #2 and #3 (as stated here), resulting in the disqualification of your entry.

Q: Hey, I’m planning to use lyrics/music/video clips/quotes/etc. from another song/movie/TV show/book/etc., could I use them and just mention them in the credits or must I go through such great lengths by contacting the original owners and asking for permission?

A: Acknowledging the original music/video/text in the credits will suffice.

Q: Hello, what format does the video have to be in?

A: Burning the video directly to a DVD in a .avi format is the best way to go. If the video is too large to fit the disc in the said format, you’re allowed to put the video in either a .mp4 or .mpeg format.

Q: Hi! :) I wonder if an entry can join two categories? Like, to submit in under experimental and documentary? Thank you very much! :)

A: Hello! Yes, you may submit one entry under two categories, provided that you register for both the experimental AND documentary categories. So, you’ll have to fill out TWO application forms, pay the Php 100 for each category (Php 200 in total), and send in  6 copies of the film. Thank you very much!
